Job Summary

St. Patrick Center, a ministry of Catholic Charities, is hiring a Co-Occurring Disorders Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment Program.

The specialist will provide treatment, rehabilitation, advocacy and case management services to program clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses and chemical dependency problems, provide consultation for ACT team regarding substance use and addiction, and provide direct clinical services to clients on individual and group basis in office and community settings, among other duties.

This position works Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM-4 : 30 PM. The salary range is between $45,000-$55,000.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive, ongoing assessments of program clients’ mental illness, substance abuse, physical health, housing status and other relevant needs.
  • Complete DLA-20’s every three months on primary case load as required by DMH and BJC / administrative agent.
  • Provide direct clinical services to clients on individual and group basis in office and in community settings, make appropriate changes in treatment plans to ensure client’s ability to cope with internal and external stresses and transport clients to appointments as scheduled.
  • Refer clients to appropriate community agencies, assisting clients when needed.
  • Act as liaison and consult with community agencies and program clients to maintain coordination in treatment process.
  • Potentially facilitate stage-wise treatment substance abuse groups with emphasis on facilitating personal growth and development towards recovery and wellness
  • Coordinate with outside inpatient services to provide needed services to clients and establish linkage with outpatient treatment groups and other support networks.
  • Collaborate with other members of ACT team during daily and weekly staff meetings.
  • Provide person-centered direct clinical services to clients on individual and group basis in office and in community settings, make appropriate changes in treatment plans to ensure clients’ ability to cope with internal and external stressors.
  • Facilitate clients’ treatment planning with an emphasis on fostering personal growth and development towards recovery and wellness.
  • Provide on-call crisis intervention in coordination with other ACT team members, covering nighttime hours, holidays and weekends.
  • Maintain SPC and BJC-BH client tracking systems and client files (including treatment plans), document client progress to maintain permanent record of client activity within 24 hours.

  • Responsible for agency policy regarding work hours, building security and all written personnel standards.
  • Ensure the care model by interacting with all other St. Patrick Center programs.
  • Provide consultation and training for ACT team regarding substance abuse and addiction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Qualified Addictions Professional (Certified or Registered as a substance use professional by the Missouri Credentialing Board with one of the following credentials : CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCJP, CCDP, CCDDP-D, RADC, or RADC-P) OR a licensed or provisionally licensed Mental Health Professional with a minimum of 1 year experience working with individuals with substance use disorders required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Understanding of mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Experience in counseling and case management / wrap-around services
  • Knowledge and understanding of community agencies.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and agency policies of client confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Well-versed in ethical issues in drug / alcohol counseling
  • Counseling and crisis intervention expertise
  • Motivational Interviewing, Use of the Harm Reduction Model and Clinical Application of Stages of Change / Treatment
  • Self-motivation due to the frequently autonomous nature of position
  • Willingness to conduct home visits and be around cigarette smoke and other unpleasant odors in client homes.
  • Respect for clients and staff
  • Sensitive to cultural diversity
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to walk up multiple flights of stairs in client’s homes.
  • Moderate computer skills

SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN JOB

  • Driver license required (MO residents require a Class E)
  • Current and valid auto insurance required.
  • Reliable vehicle required.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree preferred.
