RN - Sleep Away Camp (IDD)
A recognized recreational organization in Upstate New York is currently seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team for the summer.
Working with the developmentally disabled population, the Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for overall supervision of health and sanitation of the facility, including maintaining inventory of first aid & medical supplies, distributing medication, maintaining log of all accidents / incidents and treatment, and communication with parents / guardians.
Responsibilities :
The Registered Nurse (RN) will :
- Coordinate with Executive Director to order first aid and medical supplies for use
- Prepare Infirmary for opening of season, including inventory, bedding, food, etc.
- Review all children and staff physical examinations and medical forms and make note of any special considerations on a master list of health concerns
- Check with children and parents / guardians about medical concerns, activity restrictions, medication, allergy information, etc.
- Collect all medication that campers have and dispense at prescribed times
- Dispense over-the-counter medications as appropriate
- Assess children and staff who are ill or injured as to determine if further medical attention is needed
- Contact parents of ill or injured children and staff (if appropriate) and update them as necessary
- Update medical log and individual medical records daily
- Inform Executive Director and parents / guardians of any incidents or accidents that have occurred
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications :
- NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current certificate in an acceptable First Aid training program
- Current certificate in an acceptable CPR training program
