Primary Purpose : Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications

• Education / Certification : Bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or high school diploma / GED and equivalent wage-earning experience as required by certification
• Certification : Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with required license, endorsements, and training for subject and level assigned, or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
• Special Knowledge / Skills : Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned; general knowledge of curriculum and instruction; ability to instruct students and manage their behavior; ability to oversee student field experiences in career area assigned; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Experience : Student teaching, approved internship, or three (3) years of wage-earning experience in the area of certification

Supervisory Responsibilities : Direct the work of assigned instructional paraprofessionals.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of teachers and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).

Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors :

Tools / Equipment Used : Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

Posture : Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling / squatting, bending / stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting

Motion : Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head

Lifting : Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)

Environment : May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors

Mental Demands : Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Probationary contract – 187 days plus 4 days of Alief U professional development for a teacher new to the district

2025-2026 Salary Schedule

Minimum teacher salary is $66,500 (base $64,100 + $2,400 Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA) Stipend)

2025-2026 Teacher Salary Schedule

Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less.
