Collaborative Career Program and Resource Management
Collaborate with campus partners, career services offices, employers, and community partners to curate and manage industry-focused experiential learning programming for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at UT Austin with a focus on sustainability and scale. Opportunities can include site visits, competitions, micro internships, and project-based learning. Working closely with the employer Integration team, identify industry targets for a broad range of advanced degree disciplines, both locally and nationwide. Identify engagement funnels for both students / scholars and employers / community partners, providing opportunities to participate at various levels of commitment and focusing on holistic job search preparation for industry. In collaboration with the Office of Career and Life Design Team, contribute to the development and teaching of core career workshops (e.g., resume, interviewing, CV, etc.) and signature programming. Liaise with academic departments to provide tailored content and workshops on core topics, and integrate as appropriate, employer and alumni partners. Lead outreach, communication, organization, and delivery of industry engagement funnels (e.g. : Break into Data, Tech is for Everyone, etc.) and work closely with the team to leverage existing and create new effective career content and career preparation workshops. Design communication strategies that maximize content and resource utilization and drive attendance to recruitment and career education events. Collaborate on team and graduate school initiatives and events including large scale events e.g.; Empower Your Pitch, Commencement, Graduate Student Orientation and contribute to an overall positive and thriving team environment.
Employer and Alumni Relations
Working closely with the Associate Director for Employer Integration in collaboration with college and school career centers identify and build relationships with employers and alumni to curate and co-create experiences, events, and programs that increase awareness of advanced degree talent among industry partners and provide opportunities for career exploration and recruitment for graduate students and postdocs. Work with the employer integration team to build an outreach and engagement strategy that provides multiple points of entry with varying levels of investment. Outreach activities include attending campus career fairs, contributing to signature employer engagement programs, outreaching to local and national organizations, and designing effective engagement strategies that integrate employers and alumni into existing and new initiatives.
Individual and Group Career and Professional Development Advising
Provide career advising and coaching specifically for advanced degree students and postdoctoral scholars with a focus on preparation for industry employment. Types of advising can include meeting 1 : 1 or in groups with students and scholars in person, through video conference, and by phone on topics ranging from application document preparation, career changing, career advancement, exploration and planning, interviewing, negotiation, and decision-making strategies.
Thought Leadership, Learning and Resources
Assess graduate student needs and identify gaps in industry engagement to extend existing or develop new resources and services and scale impact through subscriptions and online resources. Lead the graduate experiential learning community of practice and professional development for graduate career staff by maximizing existing resources and seeking out new resources, training opportunities, and best practices in graduate career development and experiential learning.
