Ammonia Refrigeration Technician Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintain a high level of urgency in responding to all trouble calls.
- Complete all trouble response calls through documentation of rounds sheets, logbooks, work orders and downtime log.
- Discuss all repairs with Operators, Production Managers, Engineering Team Leaders, and Engineers to ensure customers’ needs are fulfilled.
- Coordinate trouble response efforts and the need to complete PM tasks in a timely manner, with fellow engineers to maximize uptime.
- Ensure all startup and shutdown procedures for each department are completed in a proper and timely manner in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures on all assigned equipment.
- Communicate with the Engineering Parts Coordinator to insure adequate parts inventories.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical / electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, variable speed AC drives, power supplies, gearboxes, and pumps.
Ammonia Refrigeration Technician Skills and Qualifications :
- 1-3 years of ammonia refrigeration experience to include compressors, ammonia pumps, condensing towers, and full understanding of refrigeration cycle.
- 3-5 years of proven experience in the electrical / electronics, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic fields are required.
- Tig and stick welding skills a plus
- Thorough knowledge of electrical / electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes, read and understand electrical schematics.
- Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators to assist with repairs and troubleshooting.
- Computer experience / operation and an understanding of PLC operation are necessary.
- Must have knowledge of machining and assembly practices, tools and fixtures.
- High school diploma or its equivalent required.
