Job Title : Field Biologist Assistant
Location : Research Triangle Park NC 27709
Duration : 6 Months
Work Schedule : 40 hours / week, start 7am or 8am. may be asked to start early like 6am as needed.
Job Description :
- Role involves working in plastic high tunnels and field crops commonly grown in North Carolina. Duties include field evaluation of experimental compounds.
- Preparation and set up of experiments (including equipment, plants, and insects), evaluation of trials, and site maintenance.
- Work will be under the supervision of biologists and Farm Manager.
- Additional responsibilities will include : weighing chemicals, mixing solutions, making dilutions, applying experimental pesticides of unknown toxicity, entering data into Excel accurately, and general housekeeping.
Duties such as :
- hoeing, pruning, weeding, and harvesting would be required on a daily to weekly basis.
- Likewise, maintenance of facilities, equipment, and tools to ensure operational readiness, and cleanliness is required;
as well as conducting insect and plant disease / damage surveys.
- Candidate will adhere to SOPs and safety protocols provided by staff.
- The ability to operate farm machinery (tractors and mowers) would be a plus. Occasional weekend work may be required.
