Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the HR department, serving as a trusted resource to employees and supervisors. The HR Generalist provides expertise across multiple HR functions—including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, and performance support—to ensure a positive employee experience and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
This role requires a proactive, customer-service mindset and a commitment to fostering an equitable, trauma-informed, and inclusive workplace aligned with LB&CS’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, performance expectations, and employee relations issues.
- Support conflict resolution and facilitate early intervention to promote positive workplace relationships.
- Partner with HR leadership to promote employee engagement, recognition, and wellness initiatives.
- Assist in conducting stay interviews, exit interviews, and employee feedback analysis.
Recruitment & Onboarding
Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities including job postings, candidate screening, scheduling interviews, and preparing offer letters.Support new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a positive and consistent employee experience.Maintain recruitment metrics and assist in workforce reporting and compliance tracking.Benefits & Leave Administration
Assist employees with benefit enrollment, changes, and inquiries; coordinate open enrollment and wellness campaigns.Administer employee leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA / FEHA accommodations) and ensure documentation compliance.Partner with payroll and HRIS teams to ensure accurate employee records and benefits deductions.Compliance & HR Operations
Ensure adherence to federal and California labor laws, including wage and hour, leave, anti-harassment, and equal employment laws.Maintain personnel files, I-9 documentation, and HRIS data integrity.Support audits, accreditation reviews, and regulatory compliance (e.g., DHCS, DDS, CARF, or Joint Commission as applicable).Participate in safety and risk management initiatives.Training & Development
Support implementation of employee training programs including compliance training, leadership development, and trauma-informed workplace practices.Track mandatory training completion and coordinate continuing education requirements.Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field required.3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in healthcare, behavioral health, or human services.Strong knowledge of California employment laws (wage and hour, CFRA / FMLA, FEHA, PDL, ADA).Experience with HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sensitivity.PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).Core Competencies

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range : $70,000 – $85,000 annually (commensurate with experience)Benefits : Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance; generous PTO; retirement plan with employer match; tuition assistance; and employee wellness programs.This pay range represents the reasonable estimate for this role in California at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, and internal equity.
