Area Quality Operations Manager

Located at the project location, the Area Quality Operations Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of a contract-specific Project Quality Plan (PQP) and all other quality related functions necessary to deliver the project fully compliant with the contract documents. The PQM is a member of the project management team, and therefore must be able to work with minimal supervision, interact professionally with the project team and client personnel, have excellent written / verbal communication and conflict resolution skills, manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively, have a continuous improvement and total quality management mentality, and takes the lead role in managing quality on the project. The AQOM is the chief quality representative on the project and has full stop work authority for matters related to quality.

Location : May be located at a Kiewit Nuclear Solutions (KNS) project site or KNS District offices.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage the development and implementation of a contract-specific Project Quality Plan (PQP)
  • Review and approve subcontractor quality plans to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
  • Ensure quality staff is adequately assigned, trained, and qualified to execute the PQP
  • Responsible for the implementation and oversight of a Nuclear Quality Assurance Program
  • Lead and mentor junior QA / QC personnel
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with the Client team
  • Interpret quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate closely with district quality management
  • Coordinate and perform causal analysis investigations
  • Coordinate and perform QA audits and assessments
  • Document findings and implement effective Corrective Actions
  • Analyze findings to identify trends
  • Work with the project management team to develop and implement mitigation strategies
  • Promote Continuous Improvement and the timely reporting of all conditions
  • Be actively engaged in operation planning sessions
  • Ensure that all Quality documentation required for project turnover is completed
  • Routinely speak and / or present at meetings
  • Perform routine performance reviews with all project Quality staff

Qualifications :

  • A four-year degree, preferred in engineering, science, or technical college degree plus ten (10) years of nuclear quality experience in a Department of Energy (DOE) or Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) environment is required.
  • A thorough knowledge, understanding, and experience implementing a Nuclear Quality Management Systems (QMS), the Nuclear market, and the EPC contractual model.
  • A broad working knowledge of the trades, disciplines, associated special processes, inspection and testing techniques.
  • Nuclear construction codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Self-starter with organizational, managerial, and leadership skills.
  • Strong verbal and technical writing skills.
  • NQA-1 qualified lead auditor or the ability to qualify within 1 year highly desirable.
  • Experience performing and managing the commercial grade dedication process.
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence (CMQ / OE) or similar certification is recommended.
  • Additional certifications from AWS, ACI, ASNT, ASQ, NACE, etc. are advantageous.
  • Current or previous experience in Nondestructive Testing is recommended.
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
  • Ability to relocate / travel to project locations as required.
  • Other Requirements :

  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
  • Base Compensation : $219,000 / yr - $230,000 / yr
