What you'll do

• Promotes safety initiatives and ensures safety policies are followed at all times.
• Offers leadership regarding safety, quality, and productivity; offering guidance and direction to subordinates.
• Assist in maintaining a strong shop floor presence to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to and serves as the primary point of contact for questions and concerns.
• Assist the Operations Supervisor in conducting hazard assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist in reviewing production orders and schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations accordingly.
• Assists in planning department / plant operations, establishing priorities and sequences for optimal productivity.
• Assist in preparing operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
• Assist the Operations Supervisor in reviewing production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to reduce costs and prevent operational delays.
• Assist in inspecting machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
• Assist in developing and revising operational procedures and observes workers to ensure compliance with these standards.
• Assist in resolving worker grievances or submitted unsettled grievances to Production Superintendent for action.
• Organizes production data and reports.
• Assists in supervising 0-40 non-supervisory employees.
• Performs supervisory duties in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Assist in creating preventative maintenance schedules.
• Work with maintenance to make sure equipment and machines are in good operational standing.
• Work with vendors to schedule repairs as needed.
• Responsibilities include enforcing safety and quality policies; interviewing, hiring, and training employees in cooperation with Human Resources; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
