Senior Director, Real World Evidence (RWE) / Health Economics And Outcomes Research (HEOR)

What You'll Do:

The Senior Director, Real World Evidence (RWE) / Health Economic Outcomes Research (HEOR) at Kailera Therapeutics will report to the VP of Medical Affairs. The Senior Director will lead the development and execution of our real-world evidence and health economics strategy to support novel therapies for obesity and related diseases. This role will play a critical role in shaping how our therapies are perceived by payers, providers, and the broader healthcare ecosystem. The Senior Director will collaborate cross-functionally to develop and implement RWE/HEOR strategies that demonstrate the value of our innovations in obesity care and related diseasessupporting access, adoption, and long-term impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of integrated RWE and HEOR plans to support Kailera's therapeutic programs from early-stage research through late-stage clinical development.
  • Identify evidence gaps and prioritize real-world studies to inform treatment patterns, disease burden, patient-reported outcomes, and unmet needs.
  • Support the development of value-based narratives to articulate the clinical, economic, and societal impact of our therapies.
  • Responsible for building, managing, and inspiring a team to support innovative real-world evidence generation and health economics research.
  • Design and oversee execution of real-world studies (e.g., burden of illness, cost-effectiveness, treatment adherence, comparative effectiveness).
  • Develop and maintain global value dossiers, AMCP dossiers, and other evidence materials to support payer and HTA engagements.
  • Publish and present findings at scientific congresses, peer-reviewed journals, and medical meetings to build the evidence base in obesity care.
  • Partner with clinical development, regulatory, and commercial teams to align on RWE/HEOR strategy and execution.
  • Serve as a scientific and strategic expert internally and externally, including with key opinion leaders, health economists, academic collaborators, and payers.
  • Lead vendor selection and manage external research partners to ensure high-quality and timely study delivery.
  • Ensure the development of needed resources to support engagement with population-based decision makers.
  • Establish internal processes and best practices for RWE and HEOR in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable ethical, regulatory, and privacy standards (e.g., GVP, GCP, GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Contribute to overall medical affairs planning, launch readiness, and evidence strategy for upcoming milestones.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in RWE/HEOR within the biopharma and/or an academic environment, biopharma experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and leading real-world research to support regulatory and payer decision-making.
  • Proven track record of publications and presentations in high-impact settings.
  • Excellent leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and drive strategy across teams.
  • Experience with patient-reported outcomes and value frameworks in chronic disease management.
  • Familiarity with U.S. and ex-U.S. payer environments and HTA processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in obesity, diabetes or related metabolic diseases is highly preferred.
  • Comfort working with EMR, claims, and prospective observational data platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with analytic tools (e.g., R, SAS, STATA) and health economic modeling.
  • Knowledge of the incretin and cardiometabolic space, particularly GLP-1 receptor agonists.

Education:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD) in Epidemiology, Health Economics, Outcomes Research, or related discipline.

Salary Range $210,000 - $270,000 USD
