Director, Volunteer Services
Position Summary
Responsible for operating and leading the volunteer services and pastoral program at Granville Health System. Responsible for leading, developing, and executing programs for employee engagement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops relationships with community volunteers / chaplains to support the needs of the volunteer services program.
- Plans and implements volunteer activities and programs.
- Partners with Marketing to develop social media and other marketing materials to promote the volunteer services program.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership on ways to enhance the volunteer services program.
- Serves as a liaison between the organization and the community, representing the organization at public meetings and events.
- Coordinates and supervises staff, volunteers, chaplains, and students.
- Designs, plans, and oversees a volunteer program to attract, inspire, train, and deploy volunteers.
- Establishes the procedures for recruiting, interviewing, and hiring volunteer workers.
- Monitors and oversees volunteer schedules to ensure activities meet the company or project objectives.
- Strengthens community partnerships and promotes community services that support GHS’ mission.
- Directs and oversees chaplain services; may facilitate, develop, and provide specialized patient counseling and spiritual guidance in the areas of grief support, end of life, hospice care, etc.
- Ensures that pastoral services are staffed so that chaplains are available to support patients and families.
- Leads the design and management of employee recognition programs, employee events, and appreciation initiatives; tracks and monitors participation, feedback and impact of employee engagement activities and programs.
- Partners with leadership and HR to embed engagement initiatives into all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
- Provides leadership with insights and recommendations to enhance engagement and retention outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, public relations, or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.At least 5 years of experience in volunteer services, pastoral care, or community-based services.Experience working with community outreach and / or education programsSolid understanding of volunteer management, chaplain / spiritual care services, and employee engagement best practices.Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, with the ability to connect effectively across diverse employee, volunteer and community groups.Excellent organizational and time-management skillsPrior experience in a healthcare, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization preferred.Certification in volunteer management or chaplaincy preferred.Primarily office-based with frequent interaction across departments, volunteer teams, and chaplaincy staff.Standard full-time schedule, with flexibility required after hours for events.Job specific and technical competencies for this position include the following :
