The Contract Specialist II will support acquisition activities for Air Force Special Access Programs. Following applicable Federal, Department of Defense, and Air Force acquisition policies, laws, regulations, and guidance, the Contract Specialist II assists the Contracting Officer in acquiring critically needed national security capabilities by performing contract administration from requirements description to contract delivery and participating in oversight of contract performance. The Contract Specialist II will also be responsible for mentoring and providing a quality review of work products and the deliverables of more junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Contracting Officer in planning and managing acquisitions for a variety of products and services for the contracts division
• Provide cradle-to-grave contract support, such as conducting market research, preparing solicitation documentation (pre- and post-award), reviewing proposals for compliance, performing cost / price evaluations, assisting with negotiating positions, reviewing, and processing invoices
• Support the integration of acquisition planning, requirements development, and resourcing into executable project plans, synchronized with program objectives and strategic vision
• Ensure consistency across acquisition documentation
• Facilitate program execution and decision-making
• Works with the Contracting Officer in developing acquisition strategies, including determination of contract method / type; performing contract administration, including but not limited to maintaining contract file folders and preparing contract modifications
• Work with the Contracting Officer in the oversight of contract performance
• Assist in communicating project status and issues, and developing acquisition and policy recommendations
• Other duties as assigned.
