Staff Accountant - Reporting & General Ledger Focus

Peckar & Abramson, P.C., a leading national law firm and innovator in construction law, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team, with a primary focus on financial reporting and general ledger management. This position is based in our New Jersey office.

As a key member of our team, you will oversee the firm's general ledger, support internal and external financial reporting, and assist with regulatory compliance. You will also support trust accounting activities and help oversee accounts payable operations, all while working closely with firm leadership and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

• Manage and maintain the firm's general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, including dashboards, summaries, and periodic reporting for management and stakeholders.
• Process journal entries including payroll, accruals, and adjustments.
• Perform bank reconciliations for firm and trust accounts.
• Conduct GL account analysis, investigating variances and ensuring proper classification.
• Assist with trust accounting operations, including processing and reconciling deposits, receipts, and disbursements.
• Support accounts payable processes, including review and processing of firm expenses, AMEX charges, client costs, and vendor invoices.
• Manage cash receipt deposits including wires, ACHs, and credit card transactions.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation and audit trails.
• Assist with client accounting system maintenance and ad hoc financial system tasks.
• Participate in special projects, including data analysis and financial modeling.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding billing, reporting, and payment status.
• Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to staff, management, vendors, and clients.
