Job Title : Staff Accountant
Reports To : Vice President of Finance & Accounting

Position Summary :
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the close process for the U.S. financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role includes working with our grants team to provide the necessary financial reporting, and coordinating with in-country finance teams as needed. This person will work alongside the VP of Finance & Accounting to build out a control framework while leveraging systems to provide scalable solutions. This position will also assist with the annual audit, budgeting and other tasks as needed.
Responsibilities & Duties Overview :
Accounting
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and general ledger
- Responsible for month-end close, preparing and reviewing financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP, and developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and financial forecasts, monitor budget performance, and provide budget variance analysis
- Assist with annual audits, ensuring timely and accurate completion, maintaining accurate and organized financial records
- Collaborate with other employees to achieve goals and meet expected deadlines
- Complete other tasks as assigned
Grants Finance
Perform grant accounting activities necessary for the proper recording, accounting, reconciling, reporting, auditing and monitoring of grant fundsLead and maintain the grant reporting structure, including setting up grant dimensions and the reporting and tracking of grant performance and budgetsAssist the Grant Partnerships team in submitting grant applications including preparing budgets and answering financial questions. Oversee the financial reporting of interim and final reports as required by grantorsDevelop recommendations for financial improvements to align with grantor requirements and best practices and support the implementation with the Finance and Operations team to ensure financial complianceWork Experience & Qualifications :

CPA certification or equivalentExperience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business CentralExperience in non-profit accounting and grants managementPhysical Qualifications :
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift to 25 poundsTravel Required :
Not required - a trip may be necessary every 1-3 years depending on training or audit needs in program countries
