As Deputy Director, you will serve as a senior leader within MOCEJ, reporting to the Deputy Executive Director and working closely with the Executive Director and Chief of Staff. You will also collaborate extensively with MOCEJ Deputy Directors to align strategies, integrate programs, and drive initiatives that advance the City's sustainability, resilience, and climate justice goals. You will oversee critical programmatic and operational functions, lead cross-functional teams, and drive strategic initiatives that advance the Mayor's environmental and climate justice agenda. Your role will involve managing complex projects, coordinating with city agencies and external partners, supervising professional staff, and ensuring the effective implementation of policies and programs that protect New York City's environment and promote environmental equity.

Key responsibilities include :

• Leading and managing assigned program areas, divisions, or special initiatives, ensuring alignment with the City's equity, sustainability, and adaptation.
• Working closely with MOCEJ leadership to develop, refine, and implement forward-thinking policies that drive climate resilience, decarbonization, and clean energy adoption.
• Supervising and mentoring professional staff, including program managers and senior analysts, fostering professional growth and high performance.
• Developing and implementing strategic plans, policies, and procedures in collaboration with other MOCEJ leadership to ensure cohesive citywide climate action.
• Coordinating with other city agencies, community organizations, and external stakeholders to maximize impact and build support for MOCEJ initiatives.
• Overseeing budget planning and resource allocation for assigned areas.
• Representing MOCEJ at high-level meetings, interagency workgroups, and public forums.
• Conducting program evaluation and performance monitoring to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
• Providing policy analysis and actionable recommendations to the Deputy Executive Director and Executive Director.
• Ensuring compliance with city, state, and federal regulations and requirements.

About You :

You have extensive experience in environmental policy, climate initiatives, public administration, or related fields. You possess strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of managing teams and complex projects. You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community groups, government officials, and advocacy organizations. You are passionate about environmental justice and committed to creating equitable solutions for all New Yorkers. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality outcomes.
