Developing Potential, Inc. is currently hiring a full-time Special Education Teacher.

• Primary Purpose :

This position was established for the purpose / s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing individuals' success in academics, interpersonal skills, and activities of daily living; supervising them within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and / or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and progress..

• Special Knowledge / Skills :
• Knowledge regarding disabilities is preferred.
• Ability to assist in an organized set of activities per their individual plans.
• Ability to assist in acquiring independent living skills.
• Ability to assist with lifting, toileting, feeding, and other daily living skills as needed.
• Ability to effectively work with adults with developmental disabilities.
• Physical capacity to lift, prompt, transfer, and otherwise assist adults with physical and behavioral disabilities (e.g. ability to lift 50 lbs).
• Mental Demands :
• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Work with various types of disabilities including intellectual disabilities, autism, and physical disabilities.
• Education and Experience :

Missouri State Teaching Certificate

Special Education Certification
