Radiation Oncology Physicists provide medical physics services for patients who are prescribed to receive radiation therapy for cancer and other conditions. They ensure : the safety and quality of care in the use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment, oversee radiation safety of patients and staff, calibrate all radiation therapy equipment, conduct routine equipment and software systems performance testing, and implement procedures to ensure quality control of all radiation therapy planning, delivery, and imaging devices and software. Participation in clinical trials is required.
