Job Details : Purpose

Purpose

In the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. George Georgiou, oversee and coordinate the daily onsite operations of a large multi-disciplinary laboratory ensuring smooth functioning, compliance with safety regulations, and efficient use of resources.

They will manage equipment and supplies and play a crucial role in maintaining a productive and safe working environment conducive to scientific research and experimentation.

Responsibilities

Ensure lab facilities are well-organized, clean, and functional : oversee and track purchasing, manage inventory levels, coordinate equipment maintenance and installation, maintain communication with purchasing teams and vendors.

Coordinate shipping and receiving. Respond to maintenance requests. Assist with IT setup for new lab members.

Conduct safety evaluations and maintain compliance with laboratory safety regulations (IBC).

Assist researchers and professional staff with various administrative tasks as assigned.

Occasional laboratory responsibilities related to recombinant DNA cloning and protein expression

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, biotechnology)

Previous experience working in a biological research laboratory.

Proven experience in lab management or leadership roles

Strong organizational and communication skills

Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures

Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Transient transfection of DNA and primary cell culture techniques.

Molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques, including preparative and analytical chromatography, ELISA, PCR, and SDS-PAGE / agarose gel electrophoresis.

Recombinant protein cloning, production, and purification.

Monoclonal antibody (mAb) purification techniques.

Salary Range

$55,000+ depending on qualifications
