Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Lynchburg, VA 24501 (Virginia nursing jobs)

Unit : Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)

Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse

Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 15 / 2025 – End : 3 / 14 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour night shifts

Hours per Week : 36

Employment Type : On-site travel nursing position

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in cardiac stepdown, intermediate care, or IMCU

Prior travel nursing experience required

Active Virginia or Compact State RN license (required at start)

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (required)

Charge nurse experience preferred

Experience with Cerner EMR preferred

Ability to work 2 out of 3 winter holidays

Applicants must reside more than 60 miles from Lynchburg, VA

Submission requirements : Skills checklist, complete work history (with explanations for gaps over 90 days), and current RN license copy

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care to med-surg, telemetry, cardiac IMCU, neuro, and CVA patients

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams in a teaching hospital setting

Mentor and support nursing students and new hires, fostering a positive learning environment

Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions; administer medications and perform interventions

Accurately document patient care using Cerner EMR (preferred)

Participate in unit activities and adapt to changing patient census as needed
