The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for overseeing projects with little or no supervision, training, and leading apprentice electricians.

This position must have knowledge of electrical systems and be able to troubleshoot and install equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Install and monitor performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.

Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.

Lead, guide, and / or train other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.

Repair and maintain motor control centers and programmable logic controls.

Plan electrical secondary system additions or modifications.

Perform work of lower-level electricians when necessary.

Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies and promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

Read, employ, and update electrical panel schedules.

Understand secondary electrical systems, including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits.

Use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances.

Use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

Diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers for secondary systems.

Lead and train staff and / or students.

Read commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.

Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Install and maintain motors, welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers as appropriate to the position.

Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.

Clean and maintain work area and washing parts.

Maintain tools, vehicle, equipment, and keeping parts and supplies in order.

Follow and complete all safety procedures, equipment and paperwork.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma / GED or higher level.

Electrical oilfield experience and knowledge preferred.

Basic computer knowledge (windows, email, internet, etc.).

Good communication skills, basic math skills, and reading skills.

Capable of following directions.

Must have a clean driving record.

Must pass a preemployment drug screen.

Current Texas Journeyman Electrical License (Must maintain a current license per state requirements).
