Director Of Operations
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the 502d Operations Support Squadron (OSS) Director of Operations, sharing with the commander the full scope of responsibility for managing the activities of the organization. The incumbent is authorized to make technical and executive decisions for the squadron commander in all areas of functional responsibility.
Responsibilities include :
- Planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of the 502nd Operations Support Squadron (OSS).
- Ensuring 502d Operations Support Squadron complies with legal and regulatory requirements to meet customer needs.
- Directing the mission and establishing the goals of the organization consistent with Command and AF strategic plans.
- Exercising supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
- Directing, coordinating, and overseeing work through subordinate supervisors.
- Advising staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters.
- Advising squadron commander on selections for subordinate supervisory positions.
- Representing the Operations Support Squadron with a variety of installation organizations and outside agencies.
The assigned program(s) are often characterized by unusual managerial complexities and demands, as well as substantial uncertainties. As the squadron senior technical advisor on operations management, performs / leads studies, and provides technical advice and assistance on development and implementation of operations support mission capabilities associated with airfield management, operations systems management, transient aircraft maintenance contracts and operations, maintenance QAE function, air traffic control, meteorological services, and plans, programs, resource agreement, policies and procedures.
Makes a periodic, comprehensive assessment and evaluation of program goals / objectives which provide a basis for long-range planning to enhance the organization's management support capabilities.
Requirements include :
Meeting the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series, 0301.At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems.Knowledge of a wide range of federal and agency operations support concepts, principles, practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to a full range of operations support.Extensive knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, management, and operation.Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to developing, planning, budgeting, and coordinating activities, programs, facility programming, contracting, and customer interests and needs.Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.Skill in managing the work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements, goals, and objectives within available resources.Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization directly and through subordinate supervisors.
