What You Will Do
As the Program Director, NBA Experiences your contribution to the organization will be to ensure the operations team delivers an exceptional guest experience that meets or exceeds the NBAs expectations while conforming to internal standards and established financial margins.
Essential Job Duties & Functions
- Operational Relationship Owner and Internal Liaison
Serve as the operations point of contact for the NBA, acting as the primary liaison between the partner and the internal event operations team, including Senior Event Managers for Hospitality and Logistics.
Address all partner inquiries regarding ongoing event planning and execution and facilitate all necessary communications between the Senior Event Managers, their teams, and the partner.Act as the single point of contact for internal stakeholders requiring information or support from the operations team regarding the NBA Experiences program.Develop and maintain operational relationships with the appropriate parties at the NBA, League Partners, Teams, and affiliates. Ensuring that these relationships are well managed, efficient, and mutually beneficial.Gather and distribute the expectations communicated by the NBA, Product, and Partner Management teams to the Event Operations team.Support the feedback loop to ensure alignment is reached based on feasibility at established margins, internal and external resources, and timelines.Facilitate regular meetings and updates with internal stakeholders and partners to address operational challenges, opportunities and progress.Maintain clear and timely documentation of all decisions, changes, and partner communications for auditability and team reference.Ensure all sponsorship-related activations, assets, and branding are implemented in strict adherence to NBA sponsorship guidelinesGuest Experience & Event ManagementEnsure the overall event planning and delivery of NBA Experiences meets or exceeds the expectations of the NBA while maintaining established financial margins and guest expectations through collaboration and support of Event Operations team
Ensure the proper handoff of information from the NBA to Event Operations team according to set timelinesDrive operational excellence by identifying and pursuing opportunities for innovation, process improvement and best practices across all NBA Experiences eventsAttend most NBA Experiences events each calendar year to support NBA contacts and Event Operations team delivery.Forward PlanningDevelop and implement forward planning strategies to address NBA Experiences needs and opportunities, contributing to overall event success.
Gather, Consolidate, and present comprehensive event feedback and future action plans across organization.Anticipate and prepare for the needs in planning for upcoming NBA Experiences events.Engage in product feasibility in the launch process of new products or activations ensuring adherence to budget and partnership expectations.Collaborate with Product and Partner Management teams to assist in aligning event budgets to ensure financial resources match overall expectations of delivery.Including but not limited to the coordination of initial site visits as needed, ensuring venues meet all logistical, technical, and operational requirements for successful event execution.Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing or a related field6+ years experience in event planning and account management. Sporting events, entertainment, and / or live experiences preferredExperience managing and supporting budgets of at least $500KExperience across multiple industry sectors (agency, venue, league, corporate) preferredProven track record of effective project managementProficient computer skills including MS Office Suite, CRM software and project management toolsTeam player with exceptional skills in relationship buildingService-oriented, highly collaborative, motivatorAble to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentComfortable receiving and actioning critical constructive feedbackStrong time management and prioritization skillsPhysical Demands
Full-time, in-person based in Charlotte, NCProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerExtensive walking and standing for periods greater than 12 hours while at eventsMust be able to lift up to 30 poundsWilling and eligible to travel internationally, as needed up to 20%Flexibility to work long hours and weekends, as neededEligible to work in the United States
