At the Stephenson Cancer Center, we have an exciting new job opportunity that could be right for you! The Informatics Project Manager provides information systems project management support for the college or department.

  • Responsibilities include using best practices for : (1) Developing and maintaining the college or department informatics project with special emphasis on determining the affects of changes in on e project on other projects and the college or department;
  • 2) Assisting in the development and maintenance of information standards and monitoring adherence to the standards; (3) Developing and executing informatics project and work plans;

4) Assists in the developing and maintaining training and help systems for the information systems; and (5) mentoring and assisting other project managers.

Duties :

In close cooperation with project managers and key stakeholders, manages the coordination and integration of individual information system project plans into the informatics plan.

This activity includes, but is not limited to; systems and process analysis, regulatory and policy compliance analysis, assisting in project and work plan development, contingency planning, monitoring and reporting activities, change management and corrective action activities, and other project management activities.

Emphasis is placed on ensuring goals and objectives of all projects are accomplished using best practices and within prescribed requirements including time frames and funding;

and (2) analyzing and reporting the effects of changes in individual projects on other projects and the college or department as a whole.

Responsible for day-to-day management and development of department staff utilizing development tools, such as performance evaluations and conducting performance management planning.

Assists in developing and maintaining information systems, the relationships among systems and the data contained within systems.

This includes, but is not limited to, information standards, code management and code management standards, dependency and interaction management, release management and college wide informatics policies and procedures.

In close cooperation with key stakeholders, plans, coordinates, implements and manages assigned informatics projects using best practices and within prescribed requirements.

This activity includes, but is not limited to, systems and process analysis, regulatory and policy analysis, project plan and work plan development, contingency planning, project monitoring and reporting, change management and corrective action activities, and ensuring proper information system design, development, implementation, maintenance, and documentation.

  • Assists in developing and maintaining training and help systems for the college or department.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness of user needs and of new developments in the fields of process analysis and improvement, project management, healthcare and healthcare education information systems, healthcare and healthcare education regulations and college or department vision and goals.

Develops and presents ideas for overall improvement in efficiency, effectiveness, compliance, risk reduction and cost reduction.

  • Mentors and assists other project managers.
  • Performs other duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

Job Requirements

Required Education : Bachelor's degree, AND :

60 months experience in process / systems analysis, design, modeling and improvement, data model development, troubleshooting, and training users.

Skills :

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of faculty and staff.
  • Ability to manage and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to translate user needs and regulatory requirements into technical requirements and specification.
  • Demonstrated competence in leadership and management of complex projects involving a variety of professional and administrative individuals.
  • Service oriented.
