Overview

Synaptics is looking for a Business Development Director to spearhead strategic initiatives that drive growth and market expansion for Synaptics' Intelligent Sensing division. This role requires a strategic thinker and results-oriented leader capable of identifying opportunities, fostering partnerships, and strengthening customer engagement. The Senior Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement business strategies that support Synaptics' goals and ensure revenue growth worldwide (in the Americas and EMEA). This position reports to the SVP & GM, IoT / Processors and Chief Product Officer.

Description

Synaptics is looking for a Business Development Director to spearhead strategic initiatives that drive growth and market expansion for Synaptics\' Intelligent Sensing division. This role requires a strategic thinker and results-oriented leader capable of identifying opportunities, fostering partnerships, and strengthening customer engagement. The Senior Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement business strategies that support Synaptics\' goals and ensure revenue growth worldwide (in the Americas and EMEA). This position reports to the SVP & GM, IoT / Processors and Chief Product Officer.

The typical base pay range for this position is USD $185,000 - $291,500 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, equity, and other benefits. Note that compensation listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.

Responsibilities & Competencies

  • Partner with divisional and functional leaders to support and execute business strategies aligned with Synaptics’ growth objectives within the Intelligent Sensing division.
  • Expand the business opportunity pipeline by identifying and pursuing target customers and new market segments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers, partners, and ecosystem players to drive design wins and revenue growth.
  • Lead customer engagements to identify needs, develop proposals, and negotiate and close business opportunities.
  • Develop business cases to support new opportunities and partnerships, working cross-functionally to align on priorities and execution plans.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and engineering teams to translate customer requirements into product and solution roadmaps.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small business development or go-to-market team focused on driving new design opportunities and customer expansion.
  • Report on market trends, competitive positioning, and customer insights to inform strategy and investment decisions.

  • Able to prioritize effectively and execute in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Analytical and data-driven, with sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ensures alignment across stakeholders and timely delivery of commitments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present persuasively at multiple organizational levels.
  • Qualifications (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 12+ years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic roles in the semiconductor or technology industry, including 5+ years leading teams.
  • Proven track record of achieving design wins and revenue growth through customer engagement and strategic execution.
  • Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business functions.
  • Domestic and international travel up to 40% required.
