Position Summary :

The Supply Chain Manager overseas and manages the company’s overall supply chain and logistics operations to maximize efficiency and minimize cost of organization’s supply chain.

Collaborate with multiple-functional managers to plan and execute on the development of a distribution center operational process to enable seamless transfers.

Manages and monitors vendors’ qualification and performance to ensure they meet company’s requirements. In addition, they play a crucial role in developing and maintaining good relationships with vendors and distributors.

Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project / department milestones / goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.

The Supply Chain Manager will drive continuous improvement, year over year, to exceed the company business objectives while ensuring compliance to all contractual, legal and regulatory requirements.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities :

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to :

  • Responsible for planning and implementing the overall supply chain strategy for Airborne Systems North America (ASNA).
  • Must collaborate with Sales, Operations and Engineering to ensure timely, quality sources of supply to meet company performance goals.
  • Responsible for achieving annual cost reduction and inventory management targets at all ASNA sites.
  • Ensure compliance to all contractual, legal and regulatory requirements : Create a culture of compliance. Ensure all requirements are understood, implement processes which comply with those requirements, and monitor all processes for compliance.

These include government contracting requirements such as FAR / DFAR clauses, Truth in Negations Act, export compliance, as well as handling and shipment of hazardous goods.

Drive Organizational Development : Assess the current organization and personnel to ensure the team succeeds across the entire scope of supply chain set activities.

This includes evaluating the organizational structure, evaluating the current staffing, and making improvements as required across all sites.

The objective will be to build a high performing team with an eye on succession planning that has identified developmental needs and implemented training.

Develop low cost outsourcing options : Identify, qualify and source materials from low cost suppliers. Also identify potential low cost contract manufacturers.

These will likely be international vendors either with parachute industry experience or new entrants to the marketplace.

At the same time quality will continue to be significantly important as well as on time delivery therefore the risks must be managed closely.

Achieve year over year material savings : Annual savings targets for materials are driven across the corporation and the Supply Chain Manager will be the key individual to achieve our annual goals.

This would include moving business to low cost suppliers, as well as negotiations with existing suppliers. There are also opportunities to implement long term agreements with some key suppliers to lock in annual savings.

Maintain capable supply chain to meet demand : With materials such a large impact to the business, it is critical to maintain a capable supply chain as defined by cost competitive, high quality and reliable delivery.

The current supply chain is fairly mature which will require the Supply Chain Manager to identify creative initiatives to drive improvement of quality and on time delivery while lowering costs.

  • Streamline ERP processes : Quickly gain understanding of our current system and processes, identify improvement opportunities and then lead teams to drive improvement.
  • Simplify material handling while maintaining exceptional inventory controls : The current inventory control processes yield highly accurate inventory counts, and provide reliable and robust traceability to the finished product.

However, the costs of such fidelity are increased labor costs, therefore the Supply Chain Manager shall identify methods to reduce the complexity of the process and improve the efficiency of the team while maintain the high standards.

  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred; Supply Chain Management and / or MBA highly preferred.
  • Previous managerial experience in a similar position.
  • Minimum 5 years of previous working experience as a Supply Chain Manager.
  • APICS / ISM / Supply Chain certification a plus.

Qualifications :

  • Strong business / financial acumen and success leading teams and driving change at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using an ERP and MRP System.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in contract negotiations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Detail oriented.
  • Team player.
  • Possess negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of business operations and processes.
  • Needs strong leadership and interpersonal skills, as they work with a diverse number of people, such as executives, suppliers, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to analyze business supply needs and ensure businesses are getting the best possible material.
  • Ability to determine key supply chain Key Process Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Ability to hold team accountable for achieving annual inventory and cost out goals.

Travel Requirements :

Periodic travel required to support project functions such as supplier visits, product testing, and technical customer meetings.

ITAR Requirements :

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.

S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Physical Demands : (*)

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear.

The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
