We seek professionally active and versatile teachers whose pedagogy is grounded in critical analysis of race and ethnicity and who are conversant with recent trends in ethnic studies. Candidates should be willing to develop syllabi which engage with racial capitalism and emphasize the intersection of race and ethnicity with categories such as gender, sexuality, class, disability, indigeneity, law, and citizenship. We are open to a range of proposed topics, which are not limited to courses that incorporate or focus on the following areas :

  • Comparative approaches to the study of race, ethnicity, and indigeneity
  • Critical adoption studies
  • Critical migration or comparative border studies
  • Critical prison studies
  • Critical science and technology studies

  • Environmental studies
  • Histories of decolonizing, anticolonial, race-radical social movements
  • Indigenous studies
  • Labor studies
  • Mixed-race studies
  • Queer studies
  • Settler colonial studies
  • Transgender studies
  • War and empire studies

We particularly welcome candidates whose courses are grounded in comparative, interdisciplinary, and / or transnational approaches. Additionally, we are especially interested in applicants with experience in indigenous studies or community organizing.

Lecturers should be willing to teach in both large lecture and smaller seminar class formats.

Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

The hiring unit will not sponsor employment-eligible immigration statuses for this position.
