Maintenance Technician - Lynchburg, VA

New Journey, a Genesis10 company, is seeking a Maintenance Techncian for a 3-month contract position with the potential for a contract extension or conversion. Compensation : $21.50 per hour Seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance and repair needs of our clients mall property. This hands-on role involves working under the guidance of the Engineering Team to ensure the facility and its equipment are fully operational, safe, and well-maintained. Job Responsibilities : Assist engineers in maintaining and repairing building systems and equipment. Perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks including : HVAC troubleshooting and basic servicing Electrical repairs (lighting, outlets, fixtures) Plumbing (clearing drains, fixing leaks) Carpentry (door repairs, drywall, basic framing) Painting and general upkeep of interior and exterior areas Complete and document all work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, tools used, and materials required. Ensure tools, equipment, and supplies are used and stored safely and properly. Collaborate with the Engineering team, Operating Engineers, and Chief Engineer to support overall building performance and customer satisfaction. Respond to maintenance emergencies or after-hours issues, as needed (on-call rotation may be required). Required Qualifications : High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade certification a plus. 2+ years of facilities maintenance experience in retail, hospitality, or commercial real estate Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Familiarity with safety procedures and building codes. Experience using CMMS platforms to track work orders. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Must be able to perform physical needs of job. Good communication and teamwork skills.
