Position Title : Custodian

Assignment : Pankalo Education Center

Hours Per Day : 8.0 (Monday - Friday from 3 : 00 p.m. - 11 : 00 p.m.)

Starting Salary : $19.08 per hour plus $0.60 shift differential

Expected Starting Date : ASAP

Nature of Work :

Incumbents are responsible for performing basic custodial work in assigned area. Responsibilities may include : sweeping and mopping floors;

emptying garbage; cleaning classrooms, restrooms and hallways; and setting up and breaking down rooms.

Typical Class Responsibilities :

• Performs a variety of custodial duties including : stripping, buffing, sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, vacuuming, and mopping of floors;
• cleaning windows and louvers; cleaning and sanitizing sinks, counters, drinking fountains, glass, restroom(s), toilets, and urinals;

washing walls, woodwork, chalkboards, baseboards, doors, and handles; and cleaning carpet.

• Collects and disposes of trash and recycling items.
• Operates and maintains a variety of cleaning and / or maintenance equipment and tools.
• Monitors supply and inventory levels and notifies appropriate individual of the need to replenish items; restocks supplies and / or inventory items upon receipt;

and prevents the waste or careless use of supplies, equipment, and utilities.

• Sets up, moves, rearranges, and breaks down furniture and equipment.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Training and Experience Requirements :

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)

Preferred Qualifications :

One year of relevant experience performing similar duties.

Knowledge Requirements :

• Applicable policies or procedures;
• Applicable equipment and tools;
• Applicable equipment and tools;
• Applicable chemicals and their usage;
• Inventory monitoring principles;
• Safe work practices.

Skill Requirements :

• Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, buildings, and other facilities;
• Proper handling of cleaning chemicals;
• Using applicable tools and equipment;
• Monitoring inventory;
• Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Physical Requirements :

Positions in this class typically require : climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Medium Work : Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
