The Mobile Wastewater Operator role serves the Santa Cruz, CA service area. In this position, you will monitor and adjust the various treatment processes to ensure compliance with all permits and regulatory agencies. The mobile wastewater operator collects and records data and wastewater samples from their assigned facilities. The operator performs preventative maintenance on equipment as per the operations and maintenance manuals for the contracted facilities. The mobile wastewater operator should have at least a CA Grade 3 wastewater treatment license for this role. The mobile wastewater operator is an independent and well-organized self-starter who can manage his or her schedule to complete assigned site coverage requirements as noted below.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc., in order to monitor system condition
- Complete Discharge Monitoring Reports as required by facilities permits
- Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes and pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc. (Further defined below in addendum A)
- Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations
- Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance
- Assist to prepare monthly written operating report based on facility's operation and / or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required
- Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
- Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of and report safety hazards
- Required to be part of a 24 hour on call rotation
- Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors or regulatory personnel
- Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance
- Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities
- Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal
- Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
- Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned route
- Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
- Con?ned Space Entry – this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
