Robert Half has a new direct-hire opportunity for Payroll Specialist near Tracy's Landing, MD. This position will process certified payrolls in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including the Davis-Bacon Act and prevailing wage laws. Key Responsibilities :
- Process weekly certified payroll for employees.
- Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws, including the Davis-Bacon Act, state-specific requirements, and union agreements (if applicable).
- Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports.
- Maintain and update employee data, wage rates, job classifications, and worksite locations.
- Monitor hours worked and job codes to ensure correct reporting and classification.
- Coordinate with project managers, HR, and accounting to gather required job and labor data.
- Respond to government agency or contractor requests for audits, documentation, or payroll clarifications.
- Ensure proper retention of payroll records per federal and state guidelines.
- Manage garnishments, deductions, and benefit contributions as required.
- Assist with general payroll processing and reporting during non-certified cycles as needed.
- Stay up to date with changes in wage determinations, labor compliance, and payroll legislation.
Qualifications :
3–5 years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years focused on certified payroll .Experience with in house payroll a plus.Solid understanding of wage classifications and labor compliance in the construction or government contracting industries.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage deadlines and work with minimal supervision.Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
