Buyer
ASRC Federal is seeking a Buyer to support our Supply Chain and Logistics operating group. This position can be supported remotely.
Summary : Under the general supervision of the Purchasing Supervisor and the Program Manager, the Buyer performs a wide range of purchasing activities. Purchase materials, equipment, supplies and services from local and nationwide commercial businesses used in performance of the Company's contracts with Department of Defense agencies. Must maintain a good company image and supplier relations through daily business contacts.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Utilize Company automated procurement and material management systems for vendor requests for quotation and order processing.
- Utilize web-based interfaces for soliciting and receiving vendor quotations, providing order status and shipping information.
- Analyze purchase requisitions for appropriate authorization level, specifications, shipping, and delivery requirements.
- Source quotes from qualified sources based on market research and government provided information.
- Issue vendor requests for quotation, analyze quotations, award and administer purchase orders for hardware, materials, services, equipment, spare and replenishment parts used by Department of Defense agencies in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Company's Federally approved purchasing system.
- Analyze suppliers price quotes for reasonableness based on competing quotes and market research, negotiate with suppliers to seek favorable pricing and terms to the Company, assess factors that affect prices, availability, quality, and ability to meet required schedules.
- Maintain effective communications with customers and take proactive measures to meet lead-time required for obtaining materials.
- Compile and maintain purchasing files in compliance in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Company's Federally approved purchasing system.
- Modify purchase orders to reflect adjustments for material quality discrepancies and returns.
- Proactively plan and coordinate work activities to meet outcomes beneficial to the Industrial Product Support Program team.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree and 2-4+ years of experience with purchasing from commercial sources in support of the performance of Federal contracts; in-lieu of degree 4 years of experience required.Desired Knowledge, Experience, and Skills :
At least two years of experience sourcing, procuring, and negotiating purchases of hardware, services, equipment, spare and replenishment parts used by Department of Defense agencies.Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).Knowledge of the supplier market of spares and replenishment hardware used by the Department of Defense.Experience conducting purchases under the policies and procedures of a Federally approved purchasing system.Experience using automated purchasing and material management systems.We invest in the lives of our employees, both in and out of the workplace, by providing competitive pay and benefits packages.
