Dayton Public Radio / Discover Classical , & is seeking a motivated candidate to join its Programming / Music Department.
Reporting to the Music Director, the Programming / Music Assistant is responsible for day-to-day management of music and metadata in service to our listeners.
This is a rare opportunity to join the team operating one of the few non-commercial, full-time classical music stations in the country.
The ideal candidate is well-versed in classical music, tech-savvy, continuously seeks out improvements, and welcomes new challenges.
Primary Responsibilities
- Enter / maintain music database
- Identify & update missing information from music database
- Digitize / import music into music library daily
- Perform basic audio editing on imported music, ensuring uniform head / tail on audio tracks
- Light reception duties
Secondary Responsibilities
- Enter playlist information for subscription / pre-recorded programs using PadLive
- Maintain station’s social media accounts, including regularly scheduled posts
- Assist with other marketing projects as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail, especially data uniformity
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with data entry and / or database management
- High degree of computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge of classical music, including genres, forms, and canonical composers & pieces
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Adobe Audition or other Windows-based audio editing software
- Familiarity and experience with standard social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, etc.
This is not a remote / hybrid position. This is a full-time position that requires daily interaction with the public, as well as our physical library of over 10,000 recordings.
Pay Range : $$ plus benefits including paid vacation, sick leave, fully-paid medical, dental, and vision plan, and optional retirement plan with matching funds.
