We’re looking for a CPA with solid accounting expertise, nonprofit experience, and a heart for mission-driven work. This is a hands-on role overseeing all core financial functions, from day-to-day transactions to strategic reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for board presentation
- Ensure full compliance with nonprofit GAAP standards
- Manage payroll processing and reporting, including retirement contributions and general ledger entries
- Oversee accounts payable and ensure proper documentation of expenses
- Record and manage donation and tuition revenue with appropriate recognition practices
- Track and report restricted funds, pledges, and capital campaign contributions
- Conduct account reconciliations (bank, credit card, merchant services, A/R, A/P, payroll)
- Maintain detailed and organized financial records: ledgers, journals, receipts, and invoices
- Audit and review purchase orders and vendor invoices
- Coordinate and support the annual financial audit
- Prepare and issue annual vendor 1099 forms
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong nonprofit accounting background preferred
- Experience with fund accounting, donation revenue, and restricted fund tracking
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
