The Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George's County is seeking a dynamic and experienced Golf Course Manager to lead operations at a premier 18-hole golf facility. This multifunctional site includes a driving range, practice area, snack bar, and pro shop. Under general direction, the Golf Course Manager oversees all aspects of facility operations, including program development, staff supervision, budget management, and customer service. This role requires independent judgment, strategic planning, and a strong commitment to operational excellence and community engagement.
The hiring range for this position will be $64,689 – midpoint of the advertised salary range and will be based on the candidate's qualifications and education.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Facility Management, Recreation Management, Education, Business Administration, Physical Education, Communication, Leisure Services, or any related field.
- Two (2) years of responsible professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, leisure services, or area of required specialty (e.g., arts, performing arts, equestrian, tennis, aquatics, gymnastics, ice rinks); including one (1) year as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total six (6) years.
- Valid driver's license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver's license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions or points that could limit the employee's ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required of the position.
- Contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require valid : (a) operating license (e.g., county pool operator, childcare license) as appropriate; (b) First Aid, CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications; or (c) certifications as related to assignment (e.g., Lifeguard Instruction, Fundamentals of Gymnastics).

Essential Responsibilities
Manages a multi-functional recreational facility ensuring the safety and security of buildings, employees and patronsSupervises, hires, trains, counsels, and evaluates a diverse set of employees, establishing effective work schedulesMonitors the completion and timely submission of timecards, petty cash, purchase orders and check request to ensure complianceEffectively interprets and communicates Commission policy and procedures to employeesProvide a team management environment by organizing weekly, monthly, and quarterly staff and safety meetingsEmphasizes the importance of customer service with staff members to ensure patrons are greeted and treated in a pleasant and professional mannerMaintains an accurate club calendar that reflects all contracted events, Junior Golf programs, agronomy practices, holidays and in-house eventsPrepares, and sends effective correspondence as required on time to employees and the communityConducts facility audits regularly / daily concentrating on cleanliness and organizationEnsure facilities are opened and closed properlyMonitors expenses and revenues with special focus and emphasis on driving revenue and controlling bottom-line expendituresProvides accurate annual and monthly budget submissions as required and requestedProvides accurate inventories for food, beverages, golf shop merchandise, club assets, and divisional assetsMaintains and stores accurate financial records to ensure compliance with audit and divisional needsAnalyzes budget-to-actual variances and provides clear, actionable insights to improve financial performanceAdministers, and oversees an effective tee time and point of sale (POS) systemMonitors building utilities to ensure proper operations with a focus on promoting the efficient use of electric power, fuel, telecom, and water resourcesEnsures all print and electronic media like brochures, flyers, ads, and electronic posts are accurate, current, and postedProperly and effectively recycles Commission waste, including paper goods, plastics, glass, batteries, and other recyclable productsBenefits

Eligibility
You have 45 days from your hire date to elect your benefits. Your coverage begins on the first of the month following receipt of your enrollment forms and required documentation.
