The EHS Program Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and auditing programs and policies that ensure safe, healthy, and an environmentally responsible workplace. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and promotes a culture of continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance. The EHS Program Manager plays a key technical role in identifying hazards, improving safety systems, and supporting sustainable environmental practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements in context and consideration of the Company operation culture of Quality, Safety, Efficacy and Efficiency.
Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), ergonomic evaluations, and safety audits.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective / preventive actions.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and inspections.
Monitor and analyze workplace safety metrics; recommend improvement strategies.
Monitor environmental impacts and oversee waste management, air emissions, water usage compliance, and other environmental initiatives.
Promote employee awareness and engagement through safety meetings, campaigns, and training.
Coordinate emergency response and preparedness programs.
Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections and ensure follow-up.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive EHS improvements and evaluate new equipment, materials, and processes for potential EHS impacts.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on process and design, adding specialized input on safety and risk mitigation.
Ensure timely reporting / processing of workers' compensation claims.
Communicate regularly with WC insurance contacts regarding program administration and claims management, ensuring prompt and aggressive claims management and follow through.

Contact medical providers for updates on employees' work status and ensure medical treatment is being offered.
Ensure communication with both injured worker and Supervisor / Manager to ensure questions are answered and follow through on any accommodations or restrictions.
Work with HR team to address employment related issues regarding ADA, FMLA / CFRA, FLSA, WC and modified duty / restrictions.
Qualifications, Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial, or engineering environments.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and local environmental regulations.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar credential preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication and training skills in English and Spanish.
Strong interpersonal skills with a keen sense of discretion and confidentiality.
Ability to lead and influence employees to work with a safety mindset.
Proven experience with time management, project management, and managing deadlines.
Extreme attention to detail, accurate and thorough, and capable of self-monitoring for quality.
Proficient in incident management and reporting systems.
Computer proficiency in MS Office, HRIS and safety programs required.

Some manufacturing is performed in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment. The nature of the position may require the Safety and HR Specialist to enter the cleanroom and investigate safety issues. Because smokers continue to shed thousands of smoke particles even hours after smoking a cigarette and these particles will damage our products, only nonsmokers are permitted to enter or work in the cleanroom.
