Engineering Manager (Downhole Production Tools)

Our client, a growing, privately-held provider of advanced production-related downhole tool solutions to unconventional oil and gas wells is experience rapid growth and looking for the right leaders to build their team as they continue they transition from start-up to successful growth company.
The Engineering Manager will be hands-on manager taking the tactical lead of our client’s technical engineering and driving execution in the development of high-quality downhole production tools.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, product development, and a proven track record of rapid response project management to get new products developed, tested, approved, and to market to solve challenges downhole.
The Engineering Manager is a technology-forward hands-on manager who enjoys both the development of technical products, as well as the members of their team.
This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious technical manager to serve as the right hand of the Engineering Director who wants to build and advance their career as they help build and advance a dynamic organization.
Experience working in a Product / Design Center developing production-related downhole technology (eg : packers, ESPs, sand control, wireline, ESPs, etc), along with management of related testing and evaluation processes in the Oil & Gas industry is a requirement of this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Development Leadership :
o Lead and manage the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization to commercialization, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality tools and products.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and testing, to achieve product development goals and milestones.
o Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team .
o Lead R&D to produce new designs, products and processes.
o Lead design reviews to determine tooling and concept design options
o Ensure the engineering team is utilizing the proper engineering methods of validation.
o Create testing criteria and lead the team to build test rigs and ensure proper testing and documentation processes.
Quality Assurance :
o Establish and enforce robust quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of product quality.
o Implement and maintain rigorous testing procedures to validate the performance and reliability of products and technical accuracy of the team.
o Work closely with sales and field service teams to address and resolve any product-related issues.
Team Management :
o Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
o Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
o Manage resources effectively to meet project timelines and budget constraints.
Project Planning and Execution :
o Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
o Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing potential risks and challenges.
o Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Opportunity Identification :
o Proactively identify customer challenges (opportunities) for product enhancement and improvement and lead the process through qualifying the challenge, working with R&D, product development, manufacture, testing, and customer approval
o Stay abreast of industry trends, market demands, and emerging technologies to drive product innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a technical role working with and developing products used downhole in unconventional production
- At least two years of experience managing a technical / engineering team
- A bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field
- Demonstrated success leading rapid response to address customer’s challenges
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to balance the dual priorities of both technical / quality excellence and speed of product to customer
- Must be able to dispatch to a job site when needed
