Position Summary : Under the direction of the Senior Director of Fiscal Services, the Fiscal Analyst serves as a strategic partner in budget development and financial management. This role is responsible for conducting complex financial analyses, including modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning, to provide data-driven recommendations that strengthen budget accuracy, cash management, and responsiveness throughout the fiscal year. Working in conjunction with the Budgeting and Accounting functions, the Fiscal Analyst supports managers not only through advanced analytics but also by assisting with tasks and projects as needed to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial operations. The Fiscal Analyst collaborates with leadership to align financial resources with organizational priorities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Budget & Accounting :
Compiles and analyzes financial and statistical data to prepare projections, studies, and reportsProvides dynamic financial analysis to ensure accuracy of budget-to-actual performance throughout the fiscal yearCollaborates with leadership to align financial decisions with the charter's mission and compliance requirementsAnalyzes revenue streams, enrollment trends, and funding allocations to forecast financial impactIdentifies risks and recommends strategies to strengthen fiscal stabilityDevelops function-specific computer applications (e.g. spreadsheets, databases, etc.) for the purpose of providing computerized processes for cost analysis, forecasting, and reportingPrepares, reviews, and reconciles journal entries, budget adjustments, and cash transfersAssists with the preparation, development, and monitoring of annual and interim budgetsEnsures budget allocations align with school guidelines and regulatory requirementsPrepares reports and statements for federal, state, and local compliance, including mandated cost reporting and auditsFinancial Reporting & Compliance :
Prepares financial statements, statistical reports, and other required submissionsEnsures compliance with GAAP, California School Accounting Manual, Education Code, and other applicable laws and regulationsReviews, audits, and resolves discrepancies in accounts and recordsProvides financial projections and makes recommendations to administratorsDevelops special and regular reports (e.g., annual budget spreadsheets, running salary and benefit projections, etc.) for the purpose of extracting and summarizing budget and financial data from the financial systems for management and school board information needs and decision-making, and for meeting state reporting requirementsMaintains a variety of manual and electronic files and / or records (e.g., cost analyses, payroll data, financial reports, budgets, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining an up-to-date trail for reference and ensuring compliance with established regulationsMonitors a wide variety of financial information (e.g., position controls, staffing units, salaries, benefits, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining an up-to-date trail for reference and ensuring compliance with established regulationsPrepares a wide variety of documents (e.g., reports, budgets / accounting transactions, income and costs analysis, financial reports, correspondence, requisitions, long-term debt schedules, etc.) for the purpose of providing complete and accurate documentation and / or audit trailProcesses financial documents, materials, and data (e.g., budget detail, projections, report data, staffing units, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information in compliance with established requirementsPerforms cash flow analyses to project liquidity needs and ensure sufficient cash is available to meet operational requirementsMonitors the timing of revenues and expenditures to identify potential cash shortfalls and recommend strategies to mitigate riskProvides regular cash position reports to leadership to support financial decision-making.Assists with compliance reporting and documentation for internal and external auditsResearches and maintains current knowledge of policies, procedures, practices, laws, and regulations related to assigned functionsCollaboration & Technical Support :
Supports budget and accounting managers with data-driven insightsServes as a technical resource to staff and outside agencies on fiscal mattersProvides training and guidance to staff regarding fiscal procedures and reporting requirementsCoordinates with departments to resolve budgetary and payroll-related issuesParticipates in meetings, trainings, and workshops related to fiscal managementTechnology & Data Management :
Operates financial software and databases to prepare spreadsheets, reports, and reconciliationsMaintains automated and manual financial records and ensures data accuracyPrepares queries and generates ad hoc financial reports as neededOther Duties
Responds to non-urgent communication within 24 school hours and urgent communication within two school hoursDocuments and refers to the school's management all formal disciplinary actions involving students; supporting management with addressing and resolving complaints from students and parents in a timely manner; ensuring compliance with the provisions of California Penal Code Section 11166 (Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act)Performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS GUIDE

Education & Experience :
Three (3) to five (5) years of increasingly responsible accounting or financial recordkeeping experience, preferably in a charter schoolBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related fieldStrong understanding of budget development and monitoring, including multi-year financial projectionsKnowledge of financial regulations, charter school funding formulas, and compliance requirements (e.g., LCFF, federal, state, and local funding)Other Qualifications :
State and federal fingerprint clearance (LiveScan) to work with students (Ed. Code 44237). No prospective employee can report to work without this clearance being received, and Human Resources notifying the immediate supervisor of this clearanceProof of a clear TB Tine test or signed Certificate of Completion dated within the last 60 days (Ed. Code 49406) upon employment and thereafter updated every four yearsKnowledge / Ability :
