The Laboratory Billing and Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the validity of the laboratory's financial operations. They manage receivables, registration, collections, contracting, denials, billing training, insurance listings, and develop education and billing compliance programs, including tools for data collection. They collate Performance Improvement (PI) data for reporting, set annual objectives and key indicators, and review the Laboratory Chargemaster, CPT coding, and perform charge accuracy and documentation audits across departments. They stay updated on billing regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications
- Education : College Degree - Preferred
- Experience : 3-5 Years Billing and / or Coding - Required
- License & Certification : Professional Certification - Preferred
Core Responsibilities
Organize daily workload to meet quality standards, identify weak areas, and implement training improvements. Monitor training effectiveness and adapt to workload changes and stressful situations confidently.Ensure compliance with Laboratory billing standards, collaborate with administrative leaders, and address ongoing issues with suggested solutions.Promote quality customer service in reception, registration, and collections, ensuring ethical and compliant billing practices with third-party payers like Medicare and Tricare. Develop timely collection processes.Manage denial tracking and KPIs to reduce claim rejections and improve reimbursement.Track and review quality metrics, identify problems, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and compliance through educational programs designed with clear objectives, content, and evaluation methods. Collaborate with outreach teams for ongoing improvement.Maintain proper records per regulatory guidelines and work with department leaders on billing audits, CPT coding, and compliance.Partner with hospital and laboratory leadership to grow the laboratory business and maintain profit margins.Additional Details
