Job Description
Gilead's mission is to discover, develop and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide.
Reporting to the Exec. Director, US Commercial Learning and Development, this role oversees the development of all training curriculum, provides expertise in implementation and sustainment of the program, and mentors a team of therapeutic area training managers.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the design, development and implementation of learning and development programs for China
Lead and guide new-hire orientation, onboarding and knowledge / skill-based training
Design, develop and deliver employee development programs with HR Business Partners
Partner with management to define training needs through determination of knowledge gaps and needs assessment
Actively seek out new, cutting-edge technology to further improve training initiatives and build efficiency
Stay abreast of and leverage Gilead best practices and industry best practices
Support process for evaluating training effectiveness; revise training and / or plan as needed
Identify, develop and deploy appropriate learning mechanisms including instructor-led and web-based acknowledgement training
Drive strategic management of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Incorporate motivating, creative and interactive training techniques to enhance the training experience and maximize learning and retention
Formulate management development criteria, programs and training across all therapeutic areas
Partner with senior members of various internal departments to ensure learning and development understand strategic vision
Use broad strategic thinking to analyze characteristics of the business environment and challenges to developing training needs
Analyze ROI for training expenditure and make changes to keep training relevant and valuable
Partner with other regional commercial operations function leads to establish highly strategic plans and objectives
Knowledge & Skills
12+ years of work experience with a bachelor's degree, including 10+ years related to training, sales and sales management in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry, with 3+ years in commercial training
OR 10+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to lead, interact, resolve conflict and drive consensus across cultures
Strong negotiation, influencing, consulting and proven project-management skills
Proven curriculum development and instructional design skills
Fundamental understanding of business strategy and the link between HR initiatives and business initiatives
Independent work and ability to manage multiple projects
Expertise with web-based training tools and high level technical and computer skills
Understanding of learning principles and application in a technical business environment
Experience in learning design and development process
Medical or clinical background is a plus
Experience in HIV, HBV and HCV is a plus
High proficiency in English, both spoken and written
Advanced degree preferred (MS, MBA or Doctorate)

The salary range for this position is : $210,375.00 – $272,250.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary. This position may also be eligible for discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary), paid time off, and a benefits package including company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans
