The Glass Jar, Inc. is looking to hire a Temporary Bookkeeper while our Glass Jar Bookkeeper is away on maternity leave. This position is anticipated to start training around June 16th, 2025 (assumption of full duties by August 2025) and end in Winter 2026. This temporary employment is understood to end when our Glass Jar Bookkeeper resumes her full time work from her maternity leave unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
This part-time, temporary position allows for a flexible schedule based around a two week payroll schedule. The Temporary Bookkeeper will perform work at The Glass Jar corporate office in Santa Cruz. Some remote work may be available. Reliable transportation is necessary for pick up of invoices and other materials from various locations.
The Glass Jar, Inc. is the incubator and management company for The Penny Ice Creamery , The Picnic Basket and various community events.
The Temporary Bookkeeper maintains our financial records, including sales, purchases, receipts and payments. They must have a solid understanding of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks payroll. They must have the ability to quickly learn and understand reporting exports from third party online food delivery platforms, as well as generate reports from point of sale systems for data entry into QuickBooks.
This position includes limited office management, HR and administrative duties. This person works with administrative staff and The Glass Jar Management Team, and reports directly to Glass Jar Owner Zachary Davis.
Requirements
This temporary position includes responsibility for the security and integrity of sensitive data. A background check is conducted for this position. Professional references are required.
Temporary Bookkeeping Duties Include :
Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable
Gather vendor bills and invoices from restaurant locations
Enter bills and Invoices into QuickBooks Online
Generate checks to pay vendor bills in a timely manner
Generate invoices and bill customers as needed
Bi-weekly Payroll
Count and reconcile cash tips and cash drops
Audit time clock system as necessary
Manually enter time cards and calculated tips into QuickBooks Online
Process payroll bi-weekly (Deadline is 5 : 00pm every other Wednesday)
Enter employee retirement savings into Calsavers
Process final paychecks as needed
Additional Responsibilities
Conduct bank visits as necessary
Manage change banks as necessary
Enter credit card charges and reconcile credit cards
Reconcile bank statements
File bills, prepare and sort mail
Support other employees as needed
Additional accounting as needed
This temporary position is anticipated to start around June 16th, 2025 and end in Winter 2026.
The Glass Jar, Inc. temporary employees work on an at-will basis.
