Associate Attorney - Watershed Team

This position will provide legal counsel and advice on the City of Atlanta's environmental matters, including drinking water, wastewater and storm, water treatment and compliance; solid and hazardous waste management; sustainability and environmental nuisances, contamination, and clean-ups.

The position also supports other aspects of the drinking and wastewater systems, including billing support and appeals, collections, contracts, real estate, and land use.

Responsibilities :

• Support the legal needs of the state's largest water and wastewater utility, the Department of Watershed Management; the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport; and the City's Office of Sustainability and Resilience.
• Deliver legal advice to the Atlanta City Council on legislation concerning environmental matters and other City Departments as required.
• Draft and review contractual instruments, including memoranda of understanding, land access agreements, and settlement agreements.
• Evaluate and communicate to internal stakeholders legal risk and obligations based on the client's programmatic and business needs.
• Establish productive relationships with the City's agencies, departments, and functional groups as well as external stakeholders.
• Conduct legal research related to applicable municipal, state, and federal laws and regulations and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations to advise on legal matters, including procurement and contracts.
