EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

Any combination equivalent to the experience and education that are required by Federal, State, and Local guidelines shall be considered qualifying.

The minimum requirements for experience and education are :

  • Registration as a CMD (Certified Medical Dosimetrist)
  • Experienced in Eclipse treatment planning system
  • Skilled in IMRT, Rapid Arc, and 3D planning.
  • Knowledge of computer and experience with ARIA

Requirements :

  • Must be able to work a full-time flexible schedule
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screening (background check, drug tests, and references)
  • Must be able to pass all program-mandated health screenings

Physical Standards :

Positions in this class of employment are situated in a standard clinical environment where there is little or no exposure to variations in the weather or other similar elements.

Physical agility must be such that the Medical Dosimetrist is able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time. This position has some direct patient contact.

The Medical Dosimetrist should be able to lift up to 25 pounds repeatedly and 50 pounds intermittently. There is potential exposure to blood, body fluid / tissue, and infectious wastes.

There is also potential exposure to radiation, chemicals, and toxicants.

Reporting Relationship :

The Medical Dosimetrist reports to the Manager of Radiation Oncology (MRO) and is not a supervising position.

Characteristics :

Medical dosimetrists develop, optimize, and monitor patient treatment plans and provide oversight to high-level treatment procedures.

Accurate calculations are required for all treatment plan implementations. The medical dosimetrist must have knowledge of the overall characteristics and clinical relevance in the management of cancer and other radio-responsive conditions, provide input for the use of ancillary treatment devices and patient immobilization techniques.

The medical dosimetrist must accurately transfer and document treatment parameters either manually or electronically.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skill, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and / or ability required.

  • Generates dose distributions, dose calculations, and directs the treatment planning process as designated by the radiation oncologist and medical physicist.
  • Contour critical organs at risk and similar structures within the patient's images
  • Request physicians to contour the treatment target
  • Communicate to physician and physicists unusual patient treatment and / or setups
  • Import patient images from PACS system to treatment planning computer.
  • Request outside patient images.
  • Contact the Utilization Review Department (UR) to find out the status of treatment authorization by insurance and prepare documents for patient insurance.
  • Abide by service and promote mission, vision, and values of CBCC
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

  • Ability to interpret criteria and develop treatment plans as defined by relevant treatment protocols.
  • Knowledgeable in health care informatics-including the resources, devices, and methods to acquire, store, and retrieve data.

Tools include computers and software such as Microsoft applications, EMR systems as well as clinical guidelines, current medical terminology, information and communication systems

  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate the exchange of information in a professional manner
  • Possesses high-level critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions in an accurate and professional manner.

Salary Range :

$150,000-$175,000 plus $10,000 sign-on bonus
