The position is open until filled. The search committee will begin reviewing applications on April 22, 2024 and priority will be given to applications submitted by that date.
First round interviews will be conducted on Zoom during the last week of April 2024. We expect campus interviews to take place in the first two weeks of May, and an offer out by the end of May 2024.
Final appointment is subject to available funding. The salary range allowed for this tenure track position is $68,501 $113,027 with a midpoint salary of $90,764.
The starting salary will be determined taking into consideration prior collegiate teaching and / or other relevant experience.
- ABD candidates with completion expected by June 2024 will be considered; however a doctoral degree is required for all tenure-track appointments and must be completed prior to the beginning of service.
- Candidates are required to provide an unofficial transcript. Transcript should be of highest degree earned. Upon hire, candidate will be required to arrange for an official transcript of highest degree earned to be mailed / transmitted directly from the institution to RIC.
- Candidates will be prompted during the application process to provide three names and email addresses for reference letters.
- Optional Other Document should include Teaching Evaluations if available.

Position Summary
About the Department of Economics and Finance :
The Department of Economics and Finance is housed in the School of Business with the Departments of Accounting, Computer Information Systems, and Management and Marketing.
The Department has approximately 150 majors, served by six full-time faculty members, and offers around 50 course sections per year.
Class size is limited to a maximum of 30 students. About 1,000 students major in the School of Business programs. The programs offered by the Department of Economics and Finance include majors in economics and finance, and minors in economics, finance, and international business.
The Department is a Bloomberg Experiential Learning Partner (ELP) and the Finance Lab houses 15 Bloomberg terminals. The BS in Finance degree has the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program designation and the CFA Institute Level I Exam curriculum is embedded in entire finance curriculum.

Essential Duties
- Teaching undergraduate finance courses,
- Conducting and publishing research in finance
- Involvement in activities that promote student development and growth, including advising working with student teams / organizations, etc.
- Providing service to the department, college, and community

Excellent teaching skills and demonstrated ability for scholarly research
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or DBA) in Finance or a Ph.D. in a related field accompanied with an earned CFA Charter. ABD with completion expected by June 2024 will be considered;
however, a doctoral degree is required for all tenure-track appointments and must be completed prior to the beginning of service.
College level teaching experience in finance, commitment to teaching excellence, and demonstrated potential for scholarly research are required.
The successful candidate is expected to serve actively within the department and the College. This service will include advising finance majors and minors, and excellence in advising and mentoring students is highly sought.
