Summary of Job Duties :

The Donaghey College of STEM at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking candidates to fill an available graduate assistant position to assist with various educational and research activities within the college.

This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency / institution policy.

Qualifications :

Required Education and / or Experience :

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students;
  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week / PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Attend class sessions;
  • Serve as an assistant in laboratory activities;
  • Lead a class activity such as a discussion group or demonstration;
  • Tutor students;
  • Hold Office Hours and Respond to email questions from students;
  • Proctor examinations;
  • Grade tests and papers;
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of instructional materials;
  • Assist outreach coordinator with various outreach programs, career fair, and other duties as assigned;
  • Assist Associate Dean with duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to the area of assignment;
  • Knowledge of higher education teaching principles and practices (TA Positions) or knowledge of higher education research principles and practices (RA Positions);
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities;
  • Skill in planning, organization, and coordination of activities;
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships;
  • Skills in both verbal and written communication;
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
