Actalent is Hiring a Lab Assistant

North Chicago, IL)

Description :

Day to Day : come in and coordinate with team for daily projects, assemble walls, floors, tiles, etc. for testing, run tests, report data.

Types of test : simulate wind load, earthquakes, fires, sounds and more. Testing to see how products hold up against the elements and also will work with hydraulic press to measure nail pulling force and more.

Need to have exp or be able to pick up quickly on writing reports, reading blueprints, and more computer work.

Candidates will be assisting the Technologists with various tasks including :

• putting up dry wall, building section of rooms to test (sound, fire tests)
• painting walls, finishing walls, tiling floors
• carpentry skills
• moving 50 lb bags around
• install testing equipment such as thermocouplers
• basic lab skills (making mixes, weighing powders / formulas)
• sweeping and cleaning the general lab area

Construction, Carpentry, Framing, Hand tool, Drywall, Concrete, Blueprint, Assembly, framer, general contractor, power tool

Additional Skills & Qualifications :

MUST HAVES :

High School Diploma, degree is nice but not required

1-2 years of carpentry experience / framing OR scientific degree

Ability to learn lab skills and have an interest in learning the laboratory side. Will train on all testing procedures and how to write reports for their guidelines

Computer skills (common Microsoft word / basic excel)
