Electrical Engineer - Fortune 500 Manufacturing Company - Chicago, IL
As the Plant Electrical Engineer, you will achieve 100% compliance to local legal regulations, quality, health safety & environment management systems, and standards. You are responsible for the management and maintenance of site facilities, buildings, and equipment (hardware & software).
Compensation : $105,000 - $115,000 + Annual Bonus, 401k 6% match Medical, Dental, Vision. Merit increases. 15-20 days PTO.
Schedule : Monday - Friday. 1st shift.
Overview :
Work cross-functionally to develop and implement a strategic Facilities roadmap and annual operating plan which is a competitive advantage. Partner with internal & external stakeholders and service providers to define and meet Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Sustainability, Engagement goals. Establish a strong governance to review & control Operational performance and continuous Improvement plan to deliver against best in class both internally and externally.
Lead and be accountable that Building Maintenance program, Facilities maintenance program capabilities, including maintenance repairs & overall operations are in place. Accountable to ensure adherence to business continuity plan, manufacturing standards government regulations are understood by all employees / services providers at the site, regularly reviewed and monitored for effective implementation.
Provide leadership, coaching to Facilities team towards implementation of IL6S-Integrated Lean 6 sigma ways of working : delivering zero breakdowns via preventive / predictive maintenance strategies and technical mastery of maintenance and operation teams; PM (Progressive Maintenance) Pillar, and CBM (condition based monitoring), Visual controls & tools Mgmt., Lubrication mgmt. & Calibration of equipment(s) etc.
Role model Values and principles through effective coaching, mentoring and builds skills capability across the Plant technical / engineering team to engage with latest modern practices. Have a clear people succession and resource plan, for the asset & technology population, identifying and implementing critical levers to attract, retain and develop critical talent.
Interface with key stakeholders internally and externally to develop and maintain effective relationships, align priorities in order to deliver the company objectives, and goals.
Responsibilities
Electrical Site Ownership :
Act as the primary point of contact for all electrical systems.
Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure to ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
Conduct Alternative Energy Isolation (AEI) evaluations and implement necessary safety measures.
Establish Electrical Hazard Risk Analysis for site.
AutoCAD Drafting :
Develop and maintain (as-build) accurate AutoCAD drawings for electrical systems and layouts.
In-depth knowledge of one-line diagrams and load analysis.
Collaborate with safety professionals to integrate AEI and Arc Flash precautions into AutoCAD documentation.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting :
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance activities on electrical equipment.
Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues to minimize downtime.
Develop and implement procedures to enhance electrical safety during maintenance activities.
Electrical and Arc Flash Safety :
Lead training sessions on electrical safety protocols, including AEI, Arc Flash awareness, for maintenance and operations teams.
Ensure all electrical work follows NFPA 70E standards, local regulations, and guidelines for AEI.
Regulatory Compliance :
Ensure all electrical systems and installations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
Keep abreast of industry standards and recommend improvements to enhance electrical safety and efficiency.
Improvements and Obsolescence Eradication :
Collaborate with Project Management and Engineering to execute projects and manage contractors.
Build an electrical inventory and plan to replace obsolete equipment and infrastructure through modernization projects.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with relevant experience (at least 10 years)
Proven experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on industrial settings.
Proficiency in AutoCAD for creating electrical drawings and schematics.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
Experience with Alternative Energy Isolation (AEI) evaluations and safety measures.
Experience with Arc Flash Hazard analysis.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Project and contractor management skills are a plus
Modernization and Obsolescence Project Experience
Experience in a Union Environment preferred
Project Management and Contractor Management experience preferred
Experience with SAP PM preferred
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Lean Six Sigma Methodology
Experience with Change Management Practices and PSM (process safety management) practices
Implementation of a peak load management system is a plus
