Job Description :
As a Technical Support Engineer, the selected candidate will be responsible for providing expert-level support across various platforms and technologies, ensuring timely resolution of service-impacting issues. The role demands strong communication skills, leadership qualities, and a proactive approach to mentoring and cross-training team members, while maintaining high standards in documentation and customer service.
Key Responsibilities :
- Interact with technical and managerial staff across all levels
- Demonstrate leadership in problem determination and service restoration
- Communicate effectively with support groups, end-users, and management
- Document processes and procedures with clarity and precision
- Mentor and cross-train team members to build collective expertise
- Resolve business and service-impacting problems with thorough evaluation
- Present technical information and conduct product demonstrations
- Provide customer follow-up and maintain high service standards
- Work independently and collaboratively within fast-paced environments
- Escalate issues with appropriate urgency based on customer impact
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies :
Minimum of 5-7 years of direct experience in technical support rolesStrong experience with Control-MProficiency in JES / SDSF, ISPF, JCL, CA-ESP, CA11SA-level knowledge of UNIX, LINUX, and Windows environmentsExperience with NAS, Formula, and file transfers (NDM, FTP, SFTP, PGP / FTP, NFS)Problem-solving and process improvement capabilitiesAbility to present technical information clearlySQL knowledge and understanding of database infrastructureFamiliarity with network communication, SSL, LDAPExposure to Hadoop (Big Data), FTP, and virtual machinesExperience with Oracle, MS-SQL Server, PostgreSQL databasesUnderstanding of backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recoveryAbility to read and debug logsUnix Shell Scripting and PERL knowledgeThe hourly range for roles of this nature are $45.00 to $70.00 / hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
