Job Description Summary

As a leading provider in the annuity industry, the Nationwide Annuity team markets, distributes and services a full suite of annuity solutions designed to help our members grow and protect their retirement income.

As President, Nationwide Annuity, you’ll be responsible for setting the strategy for driving profitable growth for the variable and fixed annuity business, which is the company’s most profitable business line.

You’ll collaborate with internal and external partners to build and deepen industry relationships, leverage and expand digital and technology capabilities, and develop and launch innovative solutions in response to changing consumer needs.

Sustained financial strength is a hallmark of this business line, and expertise around managing risks and funding reserves to protect and build Nationwide’s capital is an important component of this role.

You’ll deliver through strong relationships across the company, including finance, risk committee, marketing, and technology partners.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities :

Provides admired leadership to the annuity business by demonstrating courage, resiliency, empathy, and inclusiveness, as well as connectivity, velocity, agility, and taking a digital and data approach.

Develops and implements the strategic business plan, priorities, and tactics.

Oversees all operations relating to the annuity business, including distribution, product, service, and operations.

Accelerates enterprise performance and results through collaboration across Nationwide Financial and throughout the company.

Positions Nationwide Financial as a business our partners prefer to work with. Ensure relevancy and maximize relationships with key partners for mutual profitability and growth.

Fosters an environment that reinforces Nationwide’s culture, vision, and values.

Supports the recruitment and development of talent. Creates an environment that promotes high performance and engagement.

Acts as the primary spokesperson for the annuity business.

Oversees the businesses’ fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships : Reports to the President & COO, Nationwide Financial; leads a team of four senior executives and 850+ total associates.

Typical Skills and Experiences :

Education : Bachelors’ degree in related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Experience : 15+ years of sales and managerial experience within the insurance / financial services industry. Annuity experience preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills : Demonstrated strategic thinking and strong business acumen. Ability to influence a large team to drive long-term business results.

Excellent knowledge of financial and risk management concepts and ability to solve complex problems. Aptitude to collaborate within and across boundaries.

Involved in the Financial Services industry. Capability to align and make sound decisions with velocity for maximum business impact.

Demonstrate resiliency in understanding and successfully responding to and leading a team through change or uncertainty.

Proficient with taking a digital and data approach to make decisions, evolve how we work, and maximize customer value.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Working Conditions : Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
