The PRIDE Health Lab in the Department of Population Health is hiring a Data Research Engineering Scientist Associate II for a study recently funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health focused on exposure to early life adversity in sexual and gender minority adult populations.

This position is 5 years with the possibility of extension, dependent on performance and funding with a 6 / 1 / 24 start date.

Funding expected to continue till 01 / 31 / 2029.

Purpose

The Department of Population Health is hiring a Data Research Engineering Scientist Associate IIfor a study recently funded by the National Institute of Mental Health focused on exposure to early life adversity in sexual and gender minority adult populations.

The PRIDE Health Lab is looking for someone who has experience and a high level of proficiency with collecting, managing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research data and is capable of leading data collection and analysis efforts with oversight from project leadership and senior staff.

Responsibilities

Independently conduct qualitative data collection (e.g., in-depth interviews, focus groups).

Lead analysis of qualitative data and support quantitative data analysis.

Support recruitment of sexual and gender minority adults for an interview study.

Support community engagement activities.

Support dissemination and communication about the study and study findings.

Support development of data collection instruments (e.g., interview scripts, surveys).

Support grant writing.

Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in sociology, anthropology, psychology, public health, health education, community health, education, educational psychology, or related field, and 2 years of relevant experience.

Experience and proficiency with qualitative data collection and analysis. Experience with developing and implementing study protocols.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills . Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated detail orientation, ability to follow through, and strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and on a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in sociology, anthropology, psychology, public health, health education, community health, education, educational psychology or related field.

More than the required experience. Experience in project management. Experience with sexual and gender minority health research, mental health research, early life adversity research, or related field.

Experience conducting research in primary care or family medicine settings or experience with community-based research in general.

Working knowledge of qualitative data analysis software (e.g., Nvivo, Dedoose, REDCap).Publications focused on sexual and gender minority health.

Salary Range

$45,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions.

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines.

Field work as necessary.
