The Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS) is looking for a Financial Management Specialist 2 to join their Office of Financial Management. This position handles the budget administration and maintenance of agency budget appropriations for the Investment Reporting & Budget Division. The position is expected to operate independently and to demonstrate sound judgment, with an acute attention to detail, and strong analytical skills. It will involve a variety of budget related responsibilities that can range from day-to-day reviews to adapting in the current situation while creating solutions to preparing fiscal projections. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Fiscal Management Specialist 2, you will assist in preparing reports for the Quarterly Budget and Expense Comparison for the Administrative and Investment Related Expense funds, provide budget support for Division Managers within the agency, and analyze operations, policies, procedures, and problems to prepare detailed reports that include findings, recommendations, and strategies for implementation. This position is responsible for budget administration and management, maintaining timely records of agency expenditures and allocations, handling budgets related to different types of appropriations and also involving augmentations and a variety of commitment items, reconciling agency records, advising on year-end closing projections, and assisting in the maintaining and updating of the agency's performance objectives and measures.
The selected candidate for this role will serve as a Budget Coordinator, act as PSERS' Agency Corporate Card Coordinator, Travel Card Coordinator; and as a backup for all Accounts Payable duties, assist in the preparation of sections of PSERS' Annual Budget Report, and maintain the budget, analysis of expenditures, reconciliation of activities, and report preparation for the Act 5 plans.
Candidates who will be successful in this role will be able to adapt and think on their feet to create solutions, use analytical skill to prepare fiscal projections and handle expenditures, and be detail oriented in performing a variety of tasks related to the management, monitoring, analysis, and reconciliation of the Agency's approximately $110 million budgets.
